Secretary’s report
Minutes from last meeting were passed to all. Harry motioned
to accept as read. Shirley seconded. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s report
All bills paid except for meeting tonight. The cost of the
picnic was $275 plus an additional $264 for postage for the mailing.
Historical
There were 888 visitors at the Mower County Fair. Many
compliments from the visitors about how well the building looks.
Ken Schaub, an Austin retiree, will help next year with names
to call to be volunteers.
Newsletter
These can be printed and mailed from Denver. We would just
need to get the information to them ahead of time.
We will need to get one out with the luncheon and bazaar
information.
Publicity
Currently there is just information about the lunches on the
hotline. Will add the information about the bazaar/luncheon closer to the day.
Fellowship
No report
Educational
Janet and Ed delivered 4 boxes of school supplies collected
at the picnic to the Randolph School. The school was very appreciative of the
supplies.
Janet has kept a list of the schools the council has
delivered items to and the council has done all but 4 towns.
Bakeless food sale
Dorothy will once again collect the donations for this.
Please mail to her house.
Membership luncheon
Will be held November 21 at the Owatonna Eagles this year.
Joan and Dorothy will still help with this, but there may not be as much work
with it.
Will need to send out a flyer with the date and time to
r.s.v.p
Fundraising
Items were available at the picnic, but only one sweatshirt
was sold. New items have been purchased for the bazaar in November, so hopefully
sales will be better then.
Picnic
Turn out was very low this year. The city of Medford did
return the Council’s $200 check that was put down at the time of reservations.
They looked at how long the picnic has been held there and
that the park is usually cleaner after the picnic is over then before it starts.
Operation MN Nice
Still sending a box each month. Diane has been making sure
the needed 10 items are there each month and Pat is mailing out the box.
Chapter Office Rep
At the chapter meeting on October 2, there will be some
representatives from Denver for training. All presidents, treasurers and
secretaries are invited to attend.
The training will start after lunch, when the meeting is done.
Qwest Management

Old business
The park bench’s in Pine Island have been taken care of. The
two old ones were in such bad shape that the council bought two new ones.
The plaques on them were cleaned up and put back on the new ones.
New business
St Peter Regional Center is looking for donations again this
year. Harry motioned to donate the $150 that the council has done in the past.
Ed seconded. Motion carried.
Because the city of Medford returned the
check, the council in the past has always donated the $50 deposit. Pat Levisen
motioned to send a $50 donation to the park.
Pat Sable seconded. Motion carried.
The $500 working advance has been returned the headquarters in Denver. We will need to see if we can get one at the beginning of each year
for the different functions and then to return at the end of the year. Alice also found out that the $10 memorials that we have been sending
after someone passes away do not have to be limited to that amount. It is up to the council how much to give.
The international beep ball tournament will again be held in Rochester in 2010. There will be a need for volunteers to help in different areas again.
Harry mentioned that in the history of these games, only 4 times has the ball been caught in the air.
Calendars are now out. There were only 1,500 printed this year so please try selling as many as you can. Roger Hanson and Ralph Hunstad are the chairs for this.
Janet and Ed Lozon will be starting up the educational business after the first of the year.
October 11th the Pioneers will be helping to serve lunch at the Ronald McDonald house again. Volunteers are always welcomed.
There being no other new business, Harry motioned to adjourn the meeting. Virginia seconded. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 6:30.
Respectfully submitted,
Kim Wilson
Secretary
