QWEST EMPLOYEES & HIAWATHALAND QWEST PIONEERS
VOLUNTEER TO SEE THAT STUDENTS AT THE ST.CHARLES SCHOOL ARE “PREPARED TO
LEARN”
Qwest employees in southeastern Minnesota have been busy bringing school
supplies to workplace collection points, holding an on-line auction and
donating funds to fill 50 pack packs for students as they start off on
another school year. Employees selected the public school in St. Charles
Minnesota to receive this year’s collected supplies.
Hiawathaland Qwest Pioneer Club members also contributed supplies and funds
donated at an annual picnic for all Pioneers in the area. Pioneers also
helped with the purchasing, sorting and packing of the backpacks.
Qwest donated pencil pouches and pencils enough for each backpack.
On August 18 several volunteers gathered at the Rochester garage to pack all the supplies into the backpacks. Employees then brought the backpacks to the Community Resource Center in St. Charles to be distributed to students.
While the Rochester Qwest employees set a goal of filling 50 backpacks, all told, more were donated as some backpacks were also donated. Donated funds not used for purchasing supplies will be given to the St. Charles school for unanticipated needs throughout the school year.
