On Day 2 we had a very sobering experience. A biker (not associated with the TRAM) was struck and killed early in the morning on the TRAM route. We Pioneers drove past the scene shortly after the accident. The hit & run drivers picture was circulated around the area shortly after the accident. The driver was apprehended in the late afternoon in Park Rapids. The riders who passed the accident location before the road was closed (about 250 riders) finished the ride for that day. The rest of the bikers were held up at rest stop #1 for a couple hours and then turned back to Park Rapids. The TRAM was cancelled for 800-1000 riders that day. |
