Robert L. Tavernier, age 87, passed
away surrounded by family on May 10, 2012. Survived
by wife Ruth of 64 years; children Bob, Greg (Nancy), Marc (Kaye), Gary, Janet
(Randy) Kloepper and Bill. He was a proud
WWII Naval Veteran, longtime employee of Northwestern
Bell and a Metro Life Member Pioneer. Memorial Service Saturday (5/19) at 7:00

Edward Gregory Hon, 93, died after living with
cancer for four years, on Sunday, May 13, 2012.
He was born in Duluth on May 5, 1919. He was married to
Evelyn Hon on May 21, 1978.
Edward served his country in World War II. He was a Paratrooper in the 82nd
Airborne Division's 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment, which jumped deep into
France on D-Day. He was one of 12 jumpers from his company of 150+ that were
able to complete their tours of duty, having served in the Battle of Normandy
and the Battle of the Bulge. Once retired from the Armed Forces, Edward was
employed with Western Electric until his retirement in 1979.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Altamae Hon; sister Francis Hipp;
brother Paul Hon Sr.; sister Gertrude "Sr. Rosalia" Hon; and granddaughter Julie
Bierly.
He is survived by his loving wife Evelyn Hon; sister Rosalia (George) Matyn and
brother Carl Hon Jr.; children Gregory (Kathleen Hon, Cynthia (Steven) Gramm,
Sandra (Michael) Bierly, Steven (Laura) Hon, Edward (Alece) Hon; Evelyn's
children Paul (Katherine) Hon Jr., James (Kathleen) Hon, David (Judy) Hon, Mary
(Woody) Skafte, Thomas Hon Sr., Barbara (Arthur) Levesque, Ann Marie (John)
Mellin, and Sue Ann (Rick) Seitz; 39 grandchildren; and 35 great grandchildren.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, in St. Michael's Catholic Church,
Duluth with a visitation at 9 a.m.
In addition to the support of many friends, the family would like to extend a
special message of thanks to the wonderful staff of St. Luke's Hospital's Fifth
Floor East and Hospice for their professionalism and care.
The family requests that, in lieu of flower memorials, those wishing to do so
instead make a donation in Edward's honor to the charitable cancer society of
their choice.

Olga Mary Stanley, 93, of Duluth passed
away Sunday, May 13, 2012,
in the house where she lived for 70 years, with several family members present.
Olga was born in Duluth to Fred and Teresa (Popovich)
Tasky and was raised in Gary New Duluth.
She had an older brother and five younger sisters. Olga attended Stowe School
and graduated as valedictorian of the Morgan Park High School Class of 1935.
In 1940 she was married to Frank Stanley, leaving her job at Northwestern Bell
Telephone to raise a family of two sons and two daughters. She was active in St.
Anthony's and Cathedral High's PTAs, returning to NWB where she retired as a
supervisor in 1979. She trained many of Duluth's directory assistance operators.
Olga enjoyed travel, touring Europe and Hawaii numerous times and seeing America
via automobile and Greyhound, especially fond of the "Mystery Tours". She
formerly belonged to St. Elizabeth and St. Anthony parishes, and currently is a
member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
For over 30 years she was active in the Duluth Telephone Pioneers as a past
president, a caller for meetings and she sewed hundreds of wheelchair pockets
and "Hug-a-Bears". She belonged to AARP, the Communication Workers of America,
the Plus 55 Club, Golden Arrow Travel Club, the Hiking Club, Briar Lake
Association, and was a Salvation Army Bell Ringer.
Notably, she cared for her husband at home for 11 years after he suffered a
stroke.
Olga was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 51 years, Frank; brother
Milo Tasky; sisters Betty Blazevic, Helen Koster and Marion Ellefsen; and
grandson Ross Meyer.
Surviving family includes children Donald (Kathy) of Duluth, Margery
Stanley-Meyer of Duluth, Charles (Barbara) of Lake EImo, Minn., and Virginia
(Jody Villa) Stanley of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandchildren Susan Meyer
(Kevin Peterson) of Duluth, Steven (Candace) Stanley of Houston, Texas, Scott
(Holly) Meyer of Piano, Texas, Christopher Stanley (Kelli Doll) of Texan Bay,
Guatemala and Adrienne Villa-Stanley of San Francisco, Calif.; step
grandchildren Stephen (Patricia) Elsmore of Esko and Kelly (Jeffrey) Jaglo of
Maple Grove, Minn.; two great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2012 in Dougherty Funeral Home
Chapel. A gathering of friends and family will be held one hour prior to the
service in the chapel. Inurnment service to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. In
lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Salvation Army or a local
hospice organization.

Busitzky, Gordon Arthur "Gordy" age 69, of Anoka, passed away
peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on April 28, 2011.
He
is survived by his loving wife, Joyce; sons, Rodney (Beth) of Virginia Beach,
VA, Rick (Susana) of Lexington Park, MD, Quentin (Michelle) of Anoka, MN, and
Quain (Shannon) of Anoka, MN;
brothers, Robert of Moyock, NC and Glen (Bev) of Golden Valley, MN; sister,
Donna (Lon) of Madison, WI; grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; special
friends and neighbors,
Larry and Cheryl Jacques; and his faithful, four-legged companion, Lucky.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 4 at 11 AM, Grace Lutheran
Church, 13655 Round Lake Blvd, Andover (763-421-6520) with visitation at 10 AM.

age 95, passed away Friday, April 20, 2012.
Katie was a Metro Life Member Pioneer and a member of the NWB-USW-Qwest
Retiree Association. She was a 30+ year employee with NW Bell primarily in
Operator Services.
She was a PBX instructor and Business Services trainer for
many years. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Monday at the
Church of the Ascension,
1723 Bryant Ave N, Mpls,. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Sunday 4/22
at Gearty Delmore Robbinsdale Chapel, 3888 W. Broadway, and again one hour prior
to Mass Monday at Church. In lieu of flowers,

John C. Innes, age 76
passed away on March 28th in
Council Bluffs.
John was a Metro Life Member Pioneer. He worked for NWB and U S WEST from 1958
until retirement in 1991.
He retired as Director Public Affairs-MN and also was Director North District
Commercial in Minneapolis for many years.
Born in Council Bluffs, he returned to live there after retirement. He is
survived by his wife Sara and two children.
Memorial service will be Saturday, April 14th at 11 AM at
Cutler-O’Neill Park Chapel in Council Bluffs, IA.
